Christians love to share Jesus Christ with their neighbours and bring the Kingdom of God into their community. In the late 1990’s, members of local Canadian Reformed Churches in Hamilton developed relationships with people downtown and started to meet for Bible study. Soon they were meeting on Sunday evenings for worship in a small church building on James Street North and called themselves Streetlight.
Because there were many children in that area, a Kids’ Club program was added to the evening service. Soon other programs were added for children, youth and adults. A full-time mission worker was hired, as well as part-time youth workers. In 2003 a building was purchased on 82 Ferguson Avenue North. Worship services were vibrant and inviting, and many people wanted to become members of the church.
In 2006 a missionary joined the ministry and within a year, the Streetlight Christian Church was formally begun, with worship services in the morning and evening, along with baptisms and Lord’s Supper celebrations.
We are a small church with a big heart. Our formal membership stands at about 50 members, but our circle of fellowship is nearly three times that. We invite you to join us as we share Jesus with our neighbours and bring God’s kingdom into our community.
